The Simon Institute for Longterm Governance (SI) is a Geneva-based think tank working at the intersection of frontier AI governance and international diplomacy. SI is looking for a Communications Lead to shape and tell its story. Much of SI's work happens behind closed doors — the job is to make SI legible and compelling to partners. This is a narrative role: in direct support of the leadership team, you'll craft the through-line connecting SI's institutional identity to its current work on frontier AI diplomacy, contextualize outputs (trip reports, event recaps, policy briefs) into reputation-building content, support fundraising by telling SI's impact story, and maintain SI's public presence with a light touch — a sharp newsletter, thoughtful blog posts, and a serious social media presence. The role combines strategic communications leadership with hands-on execution: roughly 60% writing and editing (blog posts, grant applications, newsletters, internal briefs, annual reports) and 40% managing communications infrastructure and supporting fundraising. Responsibilities: implement SI's comms strategy and maintain the core narrative; write and edit high-quality content; contextualize SI's work for different audiences; position SI in relevant media, partnerships, publications and events; manage website and social media (LinkedIn, X, Bluesky); draft grant applications and funding proposals; create fundraising materials (pitch decks, one-pagers, donor updates, annual reports); provide editorial and analytical support; and stay current on the AI governance landscape. Essential: 5+ years in communications, ideally tech diplomacy; exceptional writing and editing; substantive fluency in frontier AI governance and international relations; narrative instinct; judgment and discretion; self-direction; team play; mission alignment; impact-driven. Bonus: international dialogue/mediation experience, cross-cultural project management, AI governance familiarity, people management, Mandarin. Compensation: competitive salary of CHF 104,000–144,000 (equivalent remote package available), 7 weeks annual leave, generous parental leave, professional development budget, and flexible home-office arrangements. Full-time, start as soon as possible.

HOW TO APPLY:
Submit your application via the application form (https://airtable.com/apphOeePLSfHkz8H0/pag1xYu2HOdHZY0W6/form). Hiring for several related roles — candidates may indicate other SI openings that could fit. Process: screening call (15–25 min) with hiring partner Impact Ops, a ~3-hour work test with presentation, interview with prospective manager, a 1-day in-person work trial in Geneva, and 2–3 references. SI covers reasonable costs for the work test and trial.
