Fixed term | 12 months | ASAP. Acted pursues a triple mandate as a humanitarian, environmental and development aid actor, contributing to the relief, stabilisation, and recovery of crisis-affected people in fragile areas, working towards a 3ZERO world (Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon, Zero Poverty). Since December 2012, Acted has been a key humanitarian and recovery actor in Syria, implementing an area-based, conflict-sensitive, multisectoral approach across CCCM, WASH, shelter, agriculture, and market recovery.
The Area Coordinator is responsible for representing Acted's interests in the area with local authorities, donors, beneficiary communities and other key stakeholders. A member of the senior management team, the Area Coordinator ensures program quality and operational implementation, growth where feasible, and strong representation. The role directly supervises Project Managers and oversees day-to-day operations and security in the area. Responsibilities span positioning (context analysis, strategy implementation, networking, proposal development, advocacy), management and internal coordination, project implementation follow-up, FLATS management (finance, logistics/IT, admin/HR, transparency & compliance), and security management.
Requirements: Master's degree (preferred) or Bachelor's in International Development, Humanitarian Affairs, Political Science, Public Administration, Engineering, Social Sciences or related field; minimum 6 years of progressively responsible humanitarian/development experience including at least 2 years in a senior field management role; experience managing multi-sector programs and multidisciplinary teams in complex environments; strong understanding of humanitarian coordination mechanisms, donor requirements and program cycle management; strong financial and operational management skills; excellent written and spoken English required, Arabic a strong asset.
Conditions: Salary between 3800 and 3900€ monthly (before income tax) plus a monthly living allowance of $300; accommodation and food provided in Acted guesthouse.
