Freedom from Torture has an opportunity for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work with a multidisciplinary team at its London Centre, a purpose-built centre designed for the treatment of torture survivors. Contract: Permanent, 28 hours (must include Thursdays). Starting salary £51,817 – 60,108 (28 hours £41,454 - £48,086). About the Role: The team of experienced clinicians offers a range of specialist therapy interventions to survivors of torture and organised violence, on an individual and group therapy basis. The interventions equip survivors with the resolve to deal with the physical and psychological impacts of their experiences. The impact of interventions is closely monitored using specifically designed Outcome Tools to ensure survivors receive the best treatment possible. About You: You must be qualified in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (trained to doctorate level or equivalent vocational level 7); those nearing completion of training are welcome to apply. You must have knowledge of at least one evidence-based approach to trauma therapy including trauma-focused CBT, NET and EMDR, sufficient to deploy the model clinically and determine appropriate intervention pathways. Registration to practise as a psychologist with HCPC is essential, as is up-to-date knowledge of relevant mental health and safeguarding legislation. The role includes offering supervision to trainees.
