Job Brief:
The Finance and Administration Officer position is an employee of Lutheran World Relief supporting the RISE Fund project, which strengthens disaster preparedness, governance, and resilience in Nepal's most vulnerable provinces, Karnali and Sudurpaschim. The FAO completes financial, accounting, and administrative operations and procedures for the Nepal program in line with organizational policies and internationally recognized accounting standards. Core functions include accounting, procurement, and facilitating logistics, plus support to HR functions as needed.
Responsibilities:
Maintain filing systems for supporting documentation (payment/receipt vouchers, payroll, tax documents, bank reconciliations); prepare financial transactions and enter them into accounting software; prepare monthly cash advance requests; extract and consolidate financial reports for headquarters submissions; file taxes including withholding taxes; review advance requests and reconciliations; manage petty cash; perform administrative procurement (bids, vendor vetting); implement contractual terms for orders and payments; assist with staff travel and event logistics; handle office correspondence; and consolidate documents for audits. The FAO does not supervise staff.
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in finance or a relevant field from an accredited institution; minimum 3 years related experience; experience in office administration and international NGO work are advantages. Skills: generally accepted accounting practices, proficiency in Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook/SharePoint, familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks or MIP a major advantage), attention to detail, professional written and spoken English, and authorization to work legally in Nepal.
