The Innovative Training Specialist (ITS) is a crucial role in the PEP project, responsible for helping HRH (Human Resources for Health) training institutions embrace student-centred training approaches. The position involves transforming the HRH training and learning landscape by designing, developing and implementing cutting-edge training programs that leverage emerging technologies and modern pedagogical approaches, prioritizing modern learning techniques e.g. eLearning, microlearning, gamification, Virtual Reality and other Simulation Based Learning (SBL) methods. The ITS reports to the Technical Lead - Health Professions Education and functionally to the AMIU ODeL director. Principal responsibilities span planning and coordination of PEP project workplans; technical support including designing engaging training programs using instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM), developing blended learning solutions, leveraging LMS platforms, authoring tools and AI-powered tools, conducting Training Needs Assessments, and setting up Simulation Based Learning Centres of Excellence; community and resource mobilisation; financial management; research and innovations including developing research protocols and contributing to grant writing; and reporting and documentation.

Qualifications: A master's degree in instructional design, educational technology, learning design and technology, medical/clinical simulation, curriculum and instruction or related fields, plus a bachelor's degree in health, education or related field. 3-5 years of experience in training, L&D, personalized learning design or instructional design. Experience setting up and managing SBL labs, multimedia design and production, proficiency with LMS platforms and e-learning authoring tools, a data-driven mindset, and experience working with diverse stakeholders in a health development project.
