War Child is an international alliance working in 15 countries, working for children and youth affected by war. War Child has worked in Afghanistan since 2002. Location: Afghanistan - Herat office. Full-time, Temporary.

Job Purpose: The post holder will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and protection of children, beneficiaries and communities within project locations, supporting the localization and effective implementation of safeguarding and MEAL frameworks across all project locations, including partner organizations (ADWSO and RSDO). The role strengthens both safeguarding and MEAL systems by promoting safe and accountable programming and supporting effective monitoring, data management, reporting and learning processes.

Key Duties: Monitor all project activities and progress towards outputs; prepare monthly and quarterly MEAL & Safeguarding reports; assist in planning and implementing baseline/endline surveys and monitoring exercises; organize and conduct MEAL trainings and workshops; prepare and maintain databases; manage the complaints and feedback mechanism; conduct regular field monitoring visits; support contextualization, roll-out and enforcement of safeguarding and integrity policies; deliver safeguarding inductions and training; lead community sensitization sessions; strengthen the capacity of partner organizations on safeguarding, PSEA and risk mitigation; ensure all safeguarding concerns are reported within 24 hours; and support initial assessment and response to safeguarding cases including SEA allegations.

Requirements: University degree; minimum 4 years working with and managing humanitarian projects (preferably child protection); minimum 3 years relevant experience in MEAL and Safeguarding, preferably with INGOs, UN or donors in Afghanistan; experience leading and facilitating training; experience designing data collection tools and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data; proficient in report writing and databases; effective communication in English (written and oral); able to travel to project sites; and strong computer skills.
