About Etijah
Youth and Development Consultancy Institute – Etijah is a non-profit organization specialized in developing, improving and disseminating development methodologies in the field of youth and community development. Based in Cairo. Etijah primary concern is to create and tailor up-to-date and high-quality development methodologies, research tools, applicable practices of youth development and training delivery models, to be able to qualify youth by providing them with the skills, know-how, and aptitudes, as well as contribute in building the capacity of governmental and non-governmental youth-serving organizations. Our role is to provide youth with direct access to unconditional participation by providing them with practical tools and models for developing community-wide initiatives.
Background
Etijah, in partnership with UNHCR, is implementing a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response Project through Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) in Nasr City (Cairo) and Alexandria. As part of the project, MHPSS activities aim to improve the emotional well-being, resilience, and coping capacities of women and girls who are survivors of GBV or at risk of GBV.
Etijah seeks to engage qualified MHPSS consultants to facilitate interactive psychosocial support sessions using creative and participatory approaches that promote healing, emotional expression, and overall well-being.
Objective of the Assignment
The consultant will facilitate separate MHPSS group sessions designed to improve the overall mental health and psychosocial well-being of women and girls through evidence-informed, participatory, and culturally appropriate approaches.
The sessions aim to:
* Improve emotional well-being.
* Promote healthy coping mechanisms.
* Strengthen resilience and self-esteem.
* Enhance emotional expression in a safe environment.
* Foster social connectedness and peer support.
* Reduce stress and promote positive mental health.
Scope of Work
The consultant will:
* Design and facilitate standalone psychosocial support sessions.
* Develop session plans and required facilitation materials.
* Use interactive and participatory methodologies that encourage engagement while ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
* Coordinate session schedules with the Safe Space Coordinator.
* Maintain attendance records.
* Identify participants requiring additional support and coordinate referrals through the established referral pathways when necessary.
* Submit a brief report after each session.
Session Themes
Each session will focus on one psychosocial well-being topic. Examples include:
* Emotional well-being.
* Stress management and relaxation techniques.
* Trauma recovery and resilience-building.
* Healthy coping strategies.
* Emotional expression and healing.
* Self-care and self-compassion.
* Building self-esteem and confidence.
* Dance movement therapy.
* Art-based psychosocial activities.
* Mindfulness and grounding techniques.
* Social connectedness and peer support.
Each session will be delivered independently and will focus on a single theme.
Target Group
Women and girls who are survivors of GBV or at risk of GBV.
Each session will include approximately 15 participants.
Duration
* Each session will last 2–3 hours.
* The schedule and number of sessions will be determined by Etijah according to the project implementation plan.
Location
Sessions will be conducted at the Women and Girls Safe Spaces in:
* Nasr City, Cairo.
* Alexandria.
Deliverables
The consultant shall provide:
* Session plan and facilitation materials.
* Signed attendance sheet for each session.
* A brief narrative report after each session summarizing:
* Session topic. * Number of participants. * Key observations. * General participant engagement. * Recommendations, where applicable.
Qualifications
The consultant should have:
* A degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health, or another relevant discipline.
* At least three years of experience facilitating MHPSS or psychosocial group interventions.
* Experience working with women, girls, refugees, asylum seekers, or vulnerable populations.
* Strong facilitation and communication skills.
* Knowledge of survivor-centered and trauma-informed approaches.
Payment
Payment will be made upon successful completion of the assigned sessions and submission of the required deliverables, in accordance with Etijah's financial procedures.
Transportation
No transportation costs will be covered under this consultancy. The consultant is responsible for arranging transportation to and from the assigned location.
Confidentiality and Professional Conduct
The consultant shall maintain strict confidentiality, adhere to Etijah's safeguarding and PSEA policies, and apply a survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and do-no-harm approach throughout the assignment.
