The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-renowned institute in the field of global health, with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, teaching, and services at the local, national, and international levels. Around 1,000 people from 96 countries work at Swiss TPH in areas such as infectious and non-communicable diseases, the environment, society and health, as well as health systems and programs.
The Center for Travel and Tropical Medicine provides pre-trip consultations and post-trip treatment to travelers from Basel and the surrounding area. As the national reference center for imported parasitic diseases of humans, it offers a wide range of services to physicians and hospitals throughout Switzerland.
The Center for Travel and Tropical Medicine is currently seeking a temporary replacement physician to start immediately or by arrangement.
Medical Practice Assistant (60-80%)
For the organization of the tropical and travel medicine consultation hours and handling general administrative tasks of the outpatient clinic. We offer a diverse range of tropical and travel medicine consultation hours for both external patients and institute staff.
Their various tasks include:
• Reception, telephone and patient care
• Control and ordering of medications and consumables
• Perform laboratory tests (Yumizen, Trichem)
• Quality assurance of the devices
• Administrative tasks such as coordinating admission examinations and emergencies
• Blood draws and vaccinations
You bring these experiences and skills with you:
• Completed medical practice assistant (MPA) training with good business knowledge
• Excellent knowledge of German and English is mandatory; French or other
languages are an advantage.
• Very good knowledge of MS Office programs
• Strong organizational skills within the team and with the doctors.
• Independent work style and networked thinking, even in hectic times
• Flexibility in workload during holiday cover
