Job Purpose
As the Technical Sales Representative for the CDD-5000 product launch, you will drive the B2B market entry and sales growth of our advanced, two-component chlorine dioxide powder delivery system. You will be responsible for identifying target industries, conducting technical product demonstrations, and converting technical benefits (such as superior biofilm control, selective oxidation, and lack of toxic by-products) into long-term commercial accounts across South Africa.
1. Required Qualifications
Because the CDD-5000 is a highly technical chemical solution that replaces traditional chlorination and ozone systems, the ideal candidate must possess the baseline scientific knowledge to build trust with plant engineers and quality assurance managers.
- Minimum Academic Requirement: BSc / BTech / National Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Water Care / Water Technology.
- Alternative / Industry Equivalent: A technical qualification in Water Treatment Processes or Food Safety Management Systems (HACCP) paired with extensive practical field experience.
- Driving Requirement: Valid South African Code 8 (Class B) Driver’s License (non-negotiable due to regular site visits). Own a reliable motor vehicle.
2. Market-Related Salary Level
To attract a capable technical closer within the South African engineering and water treatment sector, a splitincentive structure is structured to drive high-growth launch targets.
- Base Salary Range: R35,000 to R48,000 Gross per month (depending on experience and depth of technical network).
- Variable / Commission Component: Uncapped commission structured around volume metrics (e.g., kilograms of powder sold or continuous monthly dosing accounts secured). Expected On-Target Earnings (OTE) can boost total compensation to R55,000 – R70,000+ per month.
- Allowances: Car/Travel Allowance or Reimbursement per kilometer (SARS rates), company cellphone, and corporate laptop.
3. Core Skills to Drive Sales Growth
To ensure a successful market rollout, the candidate must demonstrate a balanced blend of technical competence and commercial hunting skills:
Technical Skills & Application Knowledge
- Water Chemistry & Dosing System Fluency: Ability to calculate-match chemical dosing requirements, converting ppm/mg/L metrics for volumetric flow rates in industrial water loops.
- Food & Beverage / Breweries Application: Understanding of CIP (Clean-in-Place) sanitation, filler head assemblies, and microbial control.
- Agriculture / Poultry Application: Livestock drinking water disinfection, biofilm removal in piping lines, and post-harvest produce washing solutions.
- Industrial Utilities: Algae and Legionella control in cooling towers and process water loops without accelerating infrastructure corrosion.
- Field Testing & Auditing: Ability to use portable testing kits on-site to demonstrate pre-treatment vs. post-treatment water quality parameters (pH, organic load, free residual chlorine dioxide).
Commercial & Sales Competencies
- B2B Value Selling: Moving commercial conversations away from basic 'price per kilogram' commodities to valuebased metrics (reduced flushing volumes, line longevity, stable performance in high-ammonia environments).
- Lead Generation & Pipeline Management: Proven experience cold-calling and mapping out industrial complexes, mine sites, agricultural cooperatives, and corporate processing plants.
- Tender & Proposal Writing: Compiling rigorous, compliant corporate quotes, service level agreements (SLAs), and technical response documents for multi-layered procurement panels.
4. Key Responsibilities & Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
|
Key Responsibility Areas
|
Target Deliverables / Metrics
|
|
New Business Acquisition
|
- Map out high-priority industrial corridors (e.g., Rosslyn, Olifantsfontein, Mpumalanga agricultural hubs).
- Secure a defined target of new active commercial accounts per quarter.
|
|
Technical Demonstrations
|
- Conduct on-site product preparation (mixing Component A + B) and field validation runs at client sites to prove 5000 ppm stabilization parameters.
|
|
Account Management
|
- Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for initial adopters to guarantee standard application protocol compliance and drive repeat orders.
|
|
Reporting & Strategy
|
- Feed competitive market intelligence, pricing pushback indicators, and regional operational barriers directly back to the GNBI incubation steering team.
|
5. Candidate Attributes (Culture Fit for GNBI)
- The 'Startup / Incubator' Mindset: Comfortable operating with market agility, handling initial commercial friction, and adjusting approaches without relying on massive corporate administrative machinery.
- Ethical & Safe Handling Stewardship: Since chlorine dioxide chemical generation requires clear protocol adherence, the candidate must be highly safety-conscious and capable of training client operators strictly.
Apply by sending detailed: CV, all academic certificates and academic records, driver’s license, Matric certificate, valid passport; contactable references and any other board qualifications/ registrations etc. To hr@gnbi.org.za. No application without all required documents will be considered.
