Oxfam Novib brings together millions of people worldwide to fight inequality, injustice and poverty. As Manager Communication & Digital you set the direction for how Oxfam Novib positions itself in a complex and rapidly changing world. You are responsible for the communication strategy, reputation, brand and digital engagement, connecting campaigns, fundraising, influencing and storytelling into one powerful narrative. You are part of the Engagement Management Team and report directly to the Director of Engagement, and act as a strategic sparring partner for the directors and management.
You lead a multidisciplinary team of press officers, content makers, web specialists, graphic designers, online marketers and social media professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver the organisation-wide communication and digital engagement strategy, including the public positioning of Oxfam Novib's experts, strengthening reputation, visibility and brand in the Netherlands.
- Advise the directors on communication issues, stakeholder management and crisis communication; identify reputational risks and strategic opportunities; drive innovation and digital transformation; build relationships with media, civil society organisations and partners; represent Oxfam Novib in national and international networks.
- Lead a diverse team of communication and digital specialists, steer communication around campaigns, advocacy, current events and crises, ensure sound prioritisation and sustainable workload, strengthen collaboration with campaigns, mobilisation, fundraising and programme teams, steer on impact using data and audience insights, and hold final responsibility for planning, budgets and results of the unit.
Requirements:
- Master's level (WO) education, preferably in communication, marketing, media, journalism or similar.
- At least 8-10 years of experience in a senior role in communication, media, public engagement, brand strategy or a similar field.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Extensive experience in strategic communication, reputation management and crisis communication.
- Experience advising directors, boards or senior management.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Excellent spoken and written Dutch and English.
- Affinity with Oxfam Novib's mission, values and feminist principles. Non-profit experience is not required.
Offer: one-year contract with possibility of extension, salary scale 13 (EUR 5,680 to approx. EUR 8,671 gross per month, 36 hours/week), end-of-year bonus, hybrid working (50% office in The Hague), wellbeing support and training.
