The Life-saving Humanitarian Assistance (LHA) project, a results-based, US Government-funded project led by IMA World Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, supports DRC priorities in maternal, newborn and child health, HIV and malaria control, health service integration, supply chain strengthening, health information management and frontline workforce professionalization, focusing on the provinces of Eastern DRC most at risk of epidemics and other shocks.
Under the supervision of the Technical Director, the Malaria Specialist plans, coordinates, implements, monitors and improves malaria prevention and control interventions in LHA-supported areas. The role provides technical assistance to project teams, health authorities, health facilities and community actors to improve the quality, coverage, use and sustainability of malaria prevention and case management services, and builds the capacity of supported staff and structures to ensure lasting national ownership before the project ends.

- Support malaria prevention (long-lasting insecticidal nets, intermittent preventive treatment in pregnancy, seasonal malaria chemoprevention, behaviour-change communication, vector control and malaria vaccination initiatives).
- Build the capacity of health providers and community workers in rapid diagnostic testing, simple and severe case management, danger-sign identification, referral and documentation; strengthen community-based malaria care.
- Support antimalarial commodity quantification, availability, stock management and logistics reporting.
- Work with the M&E team on malaria indicators, data quality and use, antimalarial and insecticide resistance surveillance, dashboards and monthly, quarterly and annual reports; help detect unusual increases in cases early.
- Represent LHA in malaria coordination forums and maintain close collaboration with the PNLP, Provincial Health Divisions, health zone management teams and community partners; document best practices and lessons learned.
Requirements:
- University degree (Master's or Doctorate) in general medicine, infectious diseases, biology or epidemiology; a Master's in public health, tropical diseases, epidemiology or health program management is an asset; additional training in malaria or tropical diseases required.
- At least 7 years of relevant public health program implementation experience, including at least 3 years in malaria control in a similar position.
- Verifiable experience in vector control and antimalarial resistance monitoring; capacity building, formative supervision and quality improvement experience; health data analysis experience.
- Experience working with the Ministry of Health, PNLP, Provincial Health Divisions and health zones in DRC strongly desired; results-based project experience desired.
- Excellent French and English; knowledge of local languages of intervention areas; ability to work in remote areas and emergency contexts; proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
