Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the leading Swiss child rights organisation, headquartered in Lausanne, with more than 2000 employees worldwide. The MEAL Assistant will support MEAL functions within the Nutrition Program in Myanmar, based in Mandalay with frequent travel to the implementation area. The contract is for 8 months with possible extension, reporting to the MEAL Officer.
The role provides essential support to the MEAL Officer and the broader program team to ensure effective planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities, primarily through assisting with data collection, analysis, reporting and community engagement.
Main responsibilities:
- Technical MEAL and AAP support: support data collection (attendance monitoring, household visits, surveys); provide basic coaching to project and partner staff on data collection and indicator tracking; join field monitoring visits; help facilitate baseline, midline and endline data collection; support the Complaints and Feedback Response Mechanism (CFRM), keeping it accessible and safe for women, children and vulnerable groups; support mobile data collection (e.g. KoBo); ensure data confidentiality, protection and safeguarding compliance.
- Monitoring and quality assurance: take part in monitoring visits to project sites, support field staff and volunteers in using MEAL tools accurately, track activity-level outputs and progress toward outcome indicators, and support Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) surveys and field assessments.
- Accountability and AAP: operate CFRM channels (hotlines, suggestion boxes, in-person feedback), record and follow up on complaints with timely referrals, organise community awareness sessions on entitlements, feedback channels and safeguarding, and summarise feedback trends for programme reviews.
- Reporting and learning: contribute to internal learning reviews, donor reports and cross-township data consolidation; document success stories and lessons; promote adaptive learning among township teams.
- Comply with the Tdh Global Code of Conduct, Child Safeguarding Policy and risk management policies.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Community Health, Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant MEAL experience, ideally in cash transfer, maternal and child health or nutrition projects.
- Strong experience collaborating with local partner organisations.
- Extensive data management, research or survey experience.
- Fluency in English and Burmese.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis software (Excel, SPSS, KoBo Toolbox).
- Excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
