Evitable is a new organization focused on informing and organizing the public around the societal-scale risks and harms of AI. It was founded by AI researcher and professor David Krueger, and it gives the public independent perspectives on AI.
As Communications Manager, you will own Evitable's day-to-day content and digital presence. You will work closely with the Communications Director to bring Evitable's marketing strategy to life and build audience growth. The role is for someone passionate about communicating AI risk to a mass audience across platforms, and about activating people as well as educating them.
Key responsibilities:
- Run the social media calendar and keep a dependable publishing cadence across all channels.
- Write posts in the right style for each channel, in short and long form.
- Engage with Evitable's digital audience and strategic partners across platforms.
- Repurpose David's media appearances, interviews and op-eds into clips, posts and simple graphics.
- Develop and send the monthly newsletter and optimize it for engagement.
- Manage Evitable's CRM and email campaigns.
- Maximize Evitable's SEO and digital advertising presence, with media monitoring and analytics.
- Write copy for the website, movement-building resources and media Evitable produces.
- Identify fast-developing opportunities for Evitable to respond and engage.
Essential experience and skills:
- A track record of audience engagement and growth across social media, SEO, digital advertising and newsletters.
- Media monitoring and analytics.
- Strong, clear writing that turns complex concepts into something easy to understand and memorable.
- Familiarity with graphic design, image and video editing.
- Familiarity with audience management techniques and software.
- Alignment with Evitable's mission.
- Adherence to rigorous standards of messaging and accuracy.
- Comfort operating in early-stage environments.
- Self-directed and proactive.
Preferred: experience in advocacy, campaigns, movements or political communications, and familiarity with AI risk or critical tech policy.
Salary: $85,000–$120,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, a 2% 401(k) match, and unlimited paid time off in addition to federal holidays. This is a full-time, permanent, in-person role in the San Francisco Bay Area. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
