The Global Survivors Fund (GSF) was founded in 2019 by Dr Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad. It works to enhance access to reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence worldwide, combining interim reparative measures with advocacy and technical support to public institutions and civil society, guided by survivor participation. GSF's Syria programme works with national institutions, civil society partners and survivor groups, including support to Collective Recovery and Reparation Centres, partner programmes and health access initiatives.
Contract: Consultancy, 24 months with possible extension, up to 480 working days. Reports to the Country Representative for Syria. Based in Damascus with travel to programme locations. Start as soon as possible.
The consultant provides shared operational support across the Syria programme, working with both Programme Managers, regional teams, and finance and procurement colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Programme logistics and events: coordinate logistics for meetings, workshops, survivor activities, working groups and field visits; arrange accessible venues, interpretation and materials with attention to dignity, privacy and inclusion; maintain activity schedules.
- Travel and mission coordination: coordinate transport, accommodation and travel for staff, consultants, visitors and participants; support mission documentation; liaise with programme and security focal points.
- Procurement and supplier management: support procurement planning and documentation, sourcing and quotations per GSF procedures; coordinate supplier communication and delivery follow-up; maintain procurement records.
- Office administration and asset management: coordinate office services, supplies and equipment; maintain inventories and administrative files; support onboarding and consultant arrangements.
- Financial documentation: prepare supporting documents for payments, reimbursements and expenses; monitor outstanding administrative actions; protect confidential information and follow safeguarding procedures.
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in administration, logistics, business management or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least three years of logistics or administrative experience, preferably with a civil society, humanitarian or development organization.
- Experience organising events and travel, working with suppliers, and maintaining procurement, expense or inventory records.
- Good understanding of procurement documentation and administrative controls; confident use of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Strong organisation, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong spoken and written Arabic and working English.
- Discretion and sensitivity to the needs and privacy of survivors; ability to work collaboratively and travel within Syria as required.
