Fòs Feminista is a global intersectional feminist organization advancing the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women, girls, and gender-diverse people. Led and governed by the Global South, it works with around 200 civil society partners across 40 countries, integrating advocacy, grantmaking, research, movement-building, sexual and reproductive healthcare, and innovative finance.
The Chief Operating Officer provides strategic and operational leadership across the organization. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving on the Strategic Management Team, the COO translates strategy into coordinated plans, sound resource decisions, effective institutional systems, and accountable implementation. The COO integrates People, Inclusion, and Culture; Business Intelligence, Evaluation and Research; and Legal Affairs, and the Chief Financial Officer reports to the COO for operational integration and fiduciary responsibilities.
Principal responsibilities:
- Executive leadership and strategic execution: partner with the CEO and SMT on strategy, translate priorities into annual and multi-year plans, and represent the organization with the Board, partners and donors.
- Organizational integration and performance: integrate strategy, finance, people, evidence, legal affairs, resource mobilization and operational capacity; lead policy development, integrated systems implementation, responsible use of AI, and major organizational change.
- Financial stewardship and sustainability: oversee financial planning and performance with the CFO and CEO; ensure strong systems for financial controls, restricted funding, grants and contracts, audits, procurement and compliance.
- Resource mobilization: align revenue strategies and major proposals with organizational priorities, delivery capacity and risk; support governance of the Feminist Impact Fund.
- People, inclusion and culture: lead recruitment, performance, compensation, development, succession and staff well-being in line with feminist values and a distributed multilingual workforce.
- Business intelligence and learning: oversee data use, evaluation and research, data governance, staff safety, digital security, AI risks and crisis response.
- Legal affairs, compliance and risk: oversee Legal Affairs and manage legal, financial, operational, safeguarding, security, data and reputational risks across jurisdictions.
Requirements: demonstrated senior executive or enterprise-wide experience in a complex international nonprofit, philanthropic or mission-driven organization; experience leading or integrating several functions such as finance, people and culture, operations, legal or compliance, data, or strategy implementation; strong financial literacy; experience working across countries, cultures and distributed teams; experience leading change; commitment to feminist principles, sexual and reproductive health and rights, racial and gender justice, and Global South leadership; professional English fluency (Spanish, Portuguese or French is an asset).
This is a full-time, fully remote position. Annual salary up to USD 220,000, with private health coverage, life insurance, retirement benefits, paid sick, vacation and parental leave, and flexible working arrangements.
