MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, working in 32 countries to remove landmines and unexploded ordnance and to reduce the threat of armed violence. MAG is seeking a Programme Officer for its Senegal programme, based in Ziguinchor (Casamance). This is an unaccompanied, fixed-term 6-month post with a possibility of extension. The starting salary package is £34,580 GBP including all allowances.
Reporting to the Country Director, the Programme Officer will support grant and project management, donor reporting and proposal development, project monitoring including follow-up of results and indicators, and internal and external programme communications and visibility, supporting the new CLEAR-Casamance project.
Key responsibilities:
- Grant management and monitoring: day-to-day monitoring of grants and contracts, timely donor reports, maintaining grant management tools, coordinating with programme, finance and operations colleagues, and flagging risks or delays.
- Proposal development: supporting concept notes and funding submissions, collecting programme, operational and financial inputs, and contributing to donor meetings and visits.
- Programme monitoring and information management: developing systems and tools to record activities, outputs and indicators, consolidating programme data, and analysing results to inform decisions.
- Communications and visibility: producing case studies, success stories, briefs and donor-facing materials (including using Canva), ensuring donor visibility requirements are met, and training staff on communication and consent guidelines.
Requirements:
- Significant experience in development and humanitarian programme field operations in developing countries.
- Experience in project development and support, grant/project management, donor reporting, monitoring of results and indicators, and proposal support.
- Experience developing communication and visibility materials, and using tools such as Canva.
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Fluent English and French.
- Desirable: knowledge of institutional donors; understanding of legal issues relating to contracts and charity and company law.
