The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) assists refugees and internally displaced persons across the globe, providing emergency aid, defending their rights and strengthening their opportunities for a brighter future. DRC has operated in Syria since 2008 and takes an area-based approach to supporting IDPs, returnees and host communities across Economic Recovery and Resilience, Protection, WASH, Shelter and Infrastructure, and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding.
DRC Syria is seeking Casual Workers for office and field support in Daraa on a six-month contract (non-management, national contract), with an expected start date of ASAP.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain proper archiving, distribution and delivery of all project-related documents, in hard copy and electronic formats.
- Perform accurate data entry and support the registration process in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist with emergency response, distributions and field activities.
- Complete and organize required forms and documentation, keeping records up to date and properly filed.
- Handle basic administrative and clerical tasks, including document preparation, formatting and internal coordination.
- Support day-to-day office operations, including managing files and tracking records.
- Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and proper handling of information and documents.
- Follow DRC policies, procedures, security instructions and supervisor guidance.
- Perform any other work-related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Experience and Technical Competencies:
- Minimum one year of experience in administration or humanitarian work.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly at all levels.
- Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours, and the capability to work in an insecure environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a good sense of working in an intercultural environment.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented, with essential report writing skills.
Education:
- High school diploma is acceptable; a university or technical institute degree in Economics, Administration, Business Management, Finance, International Relations, Development Studies, Computer Science or another relevant field is an asset.
Languages:
- Fluent Arabic, written and spoken (essential).
- Good English, written and spoken.
