The Aga Khan Schools (AKS), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is a global education system of schools, hostels and non-formal education programmes serving more than 120,000 learners annually across 12 countries in East Africa, the Middle East, and South and Central Asia. Aga Khan Education Services is seeking a Part Time Teacher of French (IGCSE/IBDP) for the Aga Khan School in Uganda.

All teachers are expected to create and foster a positive teaching and learning environment where every child is loved, cared for and respected, and to act as a leader within the classroom, planning teaching and learning to help each child reach their highest potential.

Major responsibilities:
- Class atmosphere and ethos: adopt a positive approach to all students regardless of capability, behaviour and cultural diversity; keep the classroom safe, clean and orderly; implement guidance, counselling and behaviour policies; adhere to school timings; treat pupils' records confidentially.
- Teaching and learning: deliver effective instruction, training and assessment in assigned subjects with daily lesson plans; develop a growth mind-set in students (critical thinking, ethics, creativity, responsibility, respect, problem solving); collaborate with colleagues and the regional PLC community; achieve exam targets; set and mark homework; prepare students thoroughly for examinations by following the syllabus; set, mark and moderate examinations under the Head of Department; prepare end-of-term reports; take part in the wider cultural and sporting life of the school.
- Community relations: hold teacher-parent conferences, attend parent meetings, and promote the good image of the school.
- Personal and professional development: participate in professional development programmes and state personal learning needs.

Requirements:
- Bachelors in Education or B.A. with PGDE
- Minimum 5+ years of teaching experience on the relevant curriculum
- Proven consistency in class work performance
- In-depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures
- Registered as a Graduate Teacher with the Ministry of Education and Sports
- Strong knowledge of contemporary teaching methods and the new curriculum
- Proficiency in use of technology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
