Manager, Explorer Capacity Development

The National Geographic Society invests in a diverse, global community of National Geographic Explorers leading a new age of exploration in support of its mission to illuminate and protect the wonder of our world through science, exploration, education, and storytelling. NGS is broadening its science and innovation portfolio with a new research and conservation program focused on freshwater wetlands, coastlands and reefs. The Manager, Explorer Capacity Development will develop and administer learning, leadership development and mentorship programming for Explorers funded through the program, reporting to the Director of Explorer Capacity Development. This is a fixed-term position with an anticipated end date of 4 years from date of hire. Responsibilities include designing and facilitating in-person and online learning and cohort experiences, developing supporting materials, facilitating mentorship and knowledge exchange among Explorers, and managing workshop/course logistics, timelines and budgets. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's a plus), 5+ years of experience teaching, facilitating trainings and/or project management in a global context, strong in-person and online facilitation skills, and experience with learning management systems. Cross-disciplinary knowledge of science, communication and storytelling, and additional language skills (Spanish or French) are desired. Hybrid role based at Base Camp two days a week (Tuesday and Wednesday). Salary range $91,200-$96,000. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
