Location: Kyiv, Ukraine
Under guidance of the Programme Manager and Country Director, the Environmental Protection Officer is responsible for monitoring and managing the environmental impacts of NPA's programme in Ukraine and supporting integration of environmental and climate considerations across programme operations. The role provides technical support for developing and implementing environmental initiatives and promotes continuous improvement of NPA's environmental performance.
Responsibilities include coordinating staff trainings on environmental protection and climate change mitigation; drafting, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the Country Office Climate and Environment policy; coordinating environment and climate change mitigation-related projects and activities in Ukraine; conducting environmental assessments and developing mitigation measures; contributing to climate change adaptation strategies; coordinating data collection and reporting on environmental performance for donors and NPA's Head Office; and documenting the environmental impact of armed conflict and explosive weapons.
Required qualifications: relevant higher education in environmental science; at least 2 years of relevant experience; experience implementing environmental risk assessments and management systems; ability to plan, develop and manage projects; strong stakeholder relationship skills; written and spoken proficiency in English; Ukrainian mother tongue; good computer skills.
Desirable: valid driving licence. Candidates should be adaptable and able to work in a hostile, multi-cultural environment.
