IMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO based in Geneva, Switzerland, managing several initiatives including the REACH Initiative. We are looking for an Assessment Specialist to support the REACH team in Myanmar, based in Yangon.
Department: REACH. Contract duration: 12 months. Starting date: October 2026.
Position profile: Under the supervision of the IMPACT Country Representative / Research Manager, the Assessment Specialist works at the intersection of analysis and coordination with OCHA, the Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator's Office, clusters and data actors, ensuring evidence is systematically shared, jointly analysed and translated into actionable insights for response planning, including in sudden-onset emergencies. Core functions are co-chairing the Myanmar Needs Monitoring and Analysis Working Group (NMAWG) and providing dedicated joint analytical capacity for the Data Enablers consortium. As part of the country Senior Management Team, the role also contributes to IMPACT's country strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Co-chair the NMAWG alongside OCHA and represent it within the Inter-Cluster Coordination Group; build buy-in among assessment and analysis partners, facilitate meetings and information exchange, and promote data sharing and use.
- Support standard operating procedures and best practices on data protection and information sharing; support coordination of rapid needs assessments during sudden-onset emergencies.
- Facilitate joint analysis of available datasets, identify priority information gaps, produce joint analytical outputs with consortium members, and support de-duplication and alignment of research approaches.
- Represent IMPACT with donors, partners and the wider humanitarian and development community; contribute to country strategy, new project conceptualization, proposals, reporting and M&E.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all data.
Requirements:
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; strong familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Excellent understanding of the aid system; prior experience with humanitarian coordination forums required; experience leading or supporting Assessment and Analysis Working Groups highly desirable.
- At least 4 years of relevant humanitarian experience (program management, research, evaluation or assessment).
- Natural networker with experience engaging donors, UN and NGOs; past experience in Myanmar desirable.
- Excellent communication, presentation and drafting skills; ability to work independently in a cross-cultural environment.
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Adobe InDesign and R desirable.
- Fluent English required; Burmese or other Myanmar languages an asset.
