The Protection Coordinator is dedicated to technical coordination, advisory, fundraising and representing DRC in relevant technical fora and working groups. The role is responsible for formulating technical strategy for DRC Nigeria addressing the root causes of displacement, contributing to solutions to displacement and enhancing protection of hard-to-reach populations. The Coordinator provides effective, timely technical advisory to the implementation team and Country Office Team in line with technical and country strategy, and represents DRC in relevant technical fora and working groups, supporting the Head of Programme in fundraising efforts through well-designed strategy, updates, advisory and sector engagement. Based in Abuja with frequent travel to Borno, Sokoto and Zamfara states. Responsibilities include technical advisory and capacity building, leading technical strategy roll-out, reviewing proposals, reports, assessments and evaluations, guiding teams on protection incident reports and monitoring products, assessing sector capacity gaps, representation with Clusters and working groups, engaging donors and government stakeholders, and pursuing funding opportunities. Requirements: at least 5 years' experience in protection, including 3 years at senior technical level; proven proposal and report writing experience; experience drafting technical SoPs and guidelines; experience with representation in Clusters and working groups; experience in Protection Monitoring, case management, PSS, legal assistance, GBV and advocacy; Bachelor's degree in International Law, International Relations, Political Science, Social Work, Humanitarian Assistance, Sociology, Psychology or related field; full professional proficiency in English. Master's degree, capacity building experience with national partners, prior Nigeria context knowledge, and French fluency are desirable. Contract: 1 year renewable, Band G, starting November 2026.
