Danish Refugee Council is looking for a Peacebuilding Officer for operations in Jigjiga/Dire Dawa, Ethiopia. The role holder will implement activities related to conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and community engagement aimed at promoting peace, reconciliation, and social cohesion along the eastern migration route, focusing on Jigjiga, Dire Dawa, and Togochale. Working closely with stakeholders at regional, woreda, kebele, and community levels, the officer will facilitate dialogue, build relationships, and support sustainable peacebuilding initiatives, organizing peace dialogues and monitoring progress and impact. Main duties include supporting the peacebuilding component of projects, conducting participatory conflict and conflict sensitivity analyses, establishing peacebuilding committees, supporting CSOs and local change makers with skills reinforcement on dialogue and conflict prevention, facilitating community peace-building dialogue forums, coordinating with authorities and security providers, and monitoring/reporting on project implementation. Requirements: BSc or MSc in Peace Studies, Law, Conflict Management, Social Studies, or related fields; minimum 3 years of professional experience in conflict and peacebuilding, at least 2 years in an NGO setting; strong knowledge and experience working in conflict-prone and insecure areas; experience working with migrants, returnees, refugees, asylum seekers, and internally displaced persons; fluency in English and the local language. Contract length: 12 months, national contract, Band H2, start date 1 November 2026. Only qualified Ethiopian nationals are encouraged to apply.
