The Sustainable Enterprises and Economies Programme (SEE) of the ITCILO provides training, learning and capacity building services on topics related to enterprise development, responsible business conduct, social finance, green jobs, the social and solidarity economy, rural and local development. The Associate Programme Officer reports to the Manager of SEE and will join a collaborative team managing an established thematic portfolio. Under supervision, the incumbent will support consolidation and expansion of the portfolio of training and learning activities on rural and local economic transformation and entrepreneurship, including strengthening capacity of rural and local economies to promote decent work and adapt to technological, economic and environmental transformation. Duties include: selecting and summarizing background information; analyzing policy developments and practical approaches; supporting design of training activities and preparing training proposals for sponsors and clients; assessing potential impact of proposed training activities; serving as activity manager for training activities and projects, preparing cost estimates and monitoring funds; coordinating delivery of training courses including distance education as trainer, tutor and facilitator; supporting preparation of training materials; contributing to courses, seminars, experts meetings and field missions; developing online participative training methodologies; and establishing a roster of consultants and experts. Requirements: advanced university degree in business, social sciences, economics, management of development or related field; at least three years of progressively responsible professional experience, of which at least two years international in a development cooperation framework; working experience in a low- or middle-income country; experience organizing and delivering training; at least two years supporting rural and local economies; excellent command of English and French, third UN language an asset.
