Reporting to the Pacific Regional Implementation Officer based in Suva, the National Coordination Officer will serve as the principal in-country focal point for the implementation of the EU Pacific Regional Electrification Program (Pac-REP) in Vanuatu, an EUR 15 million program advancing inclusive, sustainable rural electrification across 13 Pacific Island Countries and Timor-Leste. Based in Port Vila and embedded within the Department of Energy, the role provides technical, coordination, and operational support across renewable energy, rural electrification, and stakeholder engagement, with a dotted line to the GGGI Country Representative and Deputy Country Representative, Vanuatu. Key responsibilities include coordinating with government focal points (Department of Energy, Ministry of Climate Change Adaptation, Utilities Regulatory Authority, National Green Energy Fund), supporting planning, implementation and monitoring of program activities, undertaking outer island travel for site visits and consultations, collaborating with Pac-REP coordinators in other Pacific countries, supporting regional workshops and knowledge-sharing, and managing Technical Assistance consultants. Requirements: a Bachelor's degree in energy engineering, electrical/mechanical engineering, renewable energy, environmental science, public policy, development economics or related field; 5-8 years of progressive professional experience in the energy sector with a focus on renewable energy, rural electrification, or sustainable energy access in Pacific Island Country or comparable SIDS contexts; experience providing technical and policy advisory support to government ministries in Vanuatu or the Pacific region; experience in multi-stakeholder policy development and consultation processes; and excellent written and oral English communication skills. This is a G8 national grade position with a base salary starting from USD 39,868, 15% retirement contribution, 27 days annual leave, and private health insurance.
