The Presidency is one of the four Organs of the ICC, composed of the President and First and Second Vice-Presidents, elected by the Judges for a three-year renewable term. The Presidency's responsibilities include judicial/legal functions, administration, and external relations. In external relations, the Presidency maintains relations with States and other entities and promotes public awareness and universality of the Court. The intern will support the External Relations Team on issues relating to international relations, politics, diplomacy and public relations, under supervision of the External Relations Adviser. Duties include: preparing background information ahead of the President's travel and diplomatic meetings, including Assembly of States Parties meetings, researching legal/political developments and gathering information from other Court organs; drafting and revising external and internal correspondence, letters, speeches, presentations and memoranda per Protocol standards; communicating with other Court organs on external relations activities; taking notes and preparing meeting summaries; and other duties as required. Candidates must hold a degree or be in final stages of study at a recognised university with strong knowledge of international criminal law, public international law or international relations, and a good academic record. Practical experience is not essential; candidates must have less than three years of full-time professional experience. Requires adaptability to multicultural/multilingual environments, strong teamwork and communication skills, and good computer/research skills. Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of French is highly desirable. Internship duration is three to six months, full-time, unfunded (no remuneration or expense reimbursement provided).
