icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. The Genome Centre at icddr,b is a cutting-edge facility specializing in genomic research, pathogen surveillance, clinical and public health research, and has expanded into cancer next-generation sequencing (NGS) testing to support precision oncology. The Research Fellow will report to the Associate Scientist and will perform laboratory research, prepare research concepts and protocols, plan and implement research activities, and write manuscripts to conduct high-quality lab research at the Genome Centre. Responsibilities include performing microbial and fungal culture, isolation, and preservation using aseptic techniques; extracting DNA/RNA from microbial, fungal, clinical, and environmental samples; conducting DNA/RNA quality control; maintaining records of samples, culture collections, DNA/RNA inventories, and laboratory databases; preparing laboratory reports and project documentation; administering project activities including sample tracking, work planning, reagent monitoring, and procurement follow-up; maintaining compliance with SOPs, biosafety, QA/QC, and data security requirements; training and supervising students, interns, and junior staff; and contributing to meetings, presentations, manuscripts, and project reports. Required qualifications: Master's with B.Sc. in Microbiology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Genetic Engineering with an excellent academic record (at least CGPA 3.5 in both Bachelor's and Master's) and a completed thesis; 1 year of relevant laboratory experience. Hands-on experience in microbial/fungal culture, DNA/RNA extraction, nucleic acid QC, documentation, and project coordination preferred. This is a fellowship agreement for 1 year, with possible extension subject to funding and performance; only Bangladeshi nationals are eligible to apply.
