The NRC office in Shostka is a growing operational hub supporting humanitarian and recovery activities in north-east Ukraine. Due to the expansion of programming and the increasing size of the team, there is a need to strengthen logistical capacity. The Driver role is key to ensuring safe, timely and efficient transportation of staff, materials and documents, as well as providing support to programme and operational activities in the field.
The Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of NRC staff, visitors, documents, and goods, as well as for maintaining the assigned vehicle in good working condition. The role also provides logistical and basic administrative support to programme and operational teams, in accordance with NRC policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include: transporting NRC staff, visitors, documents, and goods/materials to designated destinations when officially approved; ensuring the safety and security of passengers, goods, and the vehicle at all times; respecting local traffic laws and NRC vehicle and logistical policies; maintaining accurate vehicle logbooks and trip documentation; ensuring the vehicle is kept in good operating condition; immediately reporting accidents, breakdowns, damages, or maintenance needs; liaising with the line manager regarding servicing, repairs, and inspections; providing logistical support during trainings, workshops, and field missions; and supporting movement planning and coordination with logistics colleagues.
Qualifications: valid driving license; proven experience working as a driver, preferably in humanitarian, recovery or emergency contexts; experience operating in complex and volatile environments; demonstrated ability to handle responsibility for people and assets; basic knowledge of English is an advantage; basic computer literacy. Knowledge of local context and road conditions in northern Ukraine, humanitarian-related trainings/certificates, and experience driving across borders are advantages.
