DW Akademie intends to engage an evaluator (m/f/d) with a strong understanding of the discussions around AI and journalism and a focus on the Kenyan media landscape. The expert shall conduct a thorough evaluation of the AI in the Newsroom fellowship, focussing specifically on the integration of the developed AI use cases in journalistic operations. The outcome indicator should be measured as part of this evaluation. Within the scope of the Kenya and Ethiopia program, DW Akademie is implementing the fellowship AI in the Newsroom in cooperation with the Kenyan investigative newsroom and capacity development organization Africa Uncensored. From 2025 to 2027 three cohorts of ten fellows each develop the knowledge, skills and ethical considerations needed to navigate and leverage emerging AI technologies effectively within their journalistic work. Over the 6-month mentored fellowship program, fellows work towards developing an individual AI use case, intended for implementation in the workflows of media practitioners and media organizations.
