Location: Diyala (Baqubah), Iraq
Under the direct supervision of the Area Programme Manager and technical supervision of the Protection Coordinator, the Protection Specialist will provide technical leadership and support to ensure the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of DRC's programming addressing violence against women and girls (VAWG). The position focuses on strengthening case management, protection response, referral pathways, staff capacity, quality assurance, data management, and coordination, working closely with Protection Project Managers, Protection Managers, case workers, Legal teams, and MEAL teams.
Responsibilities include developing protection needs analysis related to VAWG, providing technical support to strengthen case management capacity, undertaking field visits to monitor implementation quality, ensuring ethical data collection and management systems, leading capacity-building and training on case management and PSS/PFA, contributing to DRC's protection strategy in Iraq, and representing DRC in the Protection Cluster and other coordination bodies.
Required: minimum 4 years of experience in international protection programming including case management and VAWG programming, preferably in conflict-affected contexts; knowledge of ethical information management and data systems; experience in PFA/PSS capacity building; strong training, analytical, and representation skills; University or Master's degree in law, social work, gender studies, social sciences or humanitarian aid; fluency in Arabic and English required, Kurdish an asset. Contract length: 4 months.
