The UIS is the official statistical agency of UNESCO and UN depository for internationally comparable statistics in education, science, culture and communication, and custodian agency for a large proportion of SDG indicators in education. The UIS is strengthening its capacity in strategic foresight, research and methodological innovation via its Foresight, Research and Methodology (FRM) Section.

This position is established under a time-limited, project-funded initiative to build and institutionalize a strategic foresight capability within UIS. Under the overall authority of the Director of UIS and direct supervision of the Chief, FRM Section (P-5), the Senior Project Officer serves as lead technical officer for strategic foresight, future-oriented policy analysis and emerging measurement agendas, supervising the Project Officer (P-3) and other project/general service staff.
