Fundraising Specialist for Ocean Program - Ocean and Plastic Waste Program, WRI Indonesia. This is a hybrid position requiring 8 days per month in the office, based in the WRI Indonesia office in Jakarta. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor visa work sponsorship for this position. Duration: 1 October 2026 - 30 June 2027; daily rate-based consultant with a maximum of 18 working days per month. Part time, Office Flex (Hybrid). Job Requisition ID 2026-JR100440.

Program Overview: WRI Indonesia's Ocean program aims for an inclusive ocean climate aligned with people, nature and climate, structured around two modules — blue carbon ecosystem and sustainable aquatic food — founded on GEDSI, technological innovation (including AI), financing, and strong literacy on the sustainable blue economy. Projects include blue carbon ecosystem governance and financing, machine learning and data tools for sustainable ocean management, low carbon and sustainable ocean-climate, and sustainable aquatic food.

Job Highlight: The Fundraising Specialist will develop and implement a fundraising strategy in coordination with the WRI Development team to mobilize resources financing the programmatic plan of action in ocean-climate, blue food and blue economy, and to upscale completed and/or ongoing projects such as climate-smart aquaculture, which may include the ASEAN region. Reporting to the Ocean & Plastic Waste Manager.

What You Will Do — Fundraising and proposal development (80%): identify and map funding landscapes for Ocean Action initiatives (blue carbon, ocean climate, blue food, blue economy) from philanthropies, development donors, multilateral development banks and other funders; develop recommendations on fundraising strategies and resource mobilization priorities; provide fundraising advisory and coordination support; identify potential upscale of the Climate Smart Shrimp Aquaculture (CSSA) research project, Ocean Calculator and others; analyze financing grant opportunities aligned with Ocean portfolio priorities and WRI fundraising policies; conduct pre-due diligence of potential NGO and/or private sector partners; lead co-creation of project proposals including Theory of Change and logical frameworks; draft and finalize proposals and pitch decks. Project Management and Engagement (20%): facilitate stakeholder engagement with government counterparts, private sector, development partners and financing institutions; support the communications team on fundraising content; contribute as resource person in relevant forums.

What You Will Need: Bachelor's degree in economics, business administration, finance, international development, environmental management, sustainable development or related field (Master's preferred); minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in fundraising through solicited and/or non-solicited mechanisms for non-profits and/or start-ups; experience developing fundraising strategies, high-quality concept notes and donor-facing materials; strong understanding of donor priorities, funding mechanisms and partnership models; excellent communication and presentation skills in Bahasa Indonesia or English; strong understanding of Theory of Change, Logical Framework and MEL; familiarity with the Indonesian environmental landscape; proactive, strategic and result-oriented; legally able to work in Indonesia. Preferred: passion for blue economy issues, proven track record securing grants from philanthropies, donor agencies or multilateral organizations, international team experience, ability to travel.
