Role Dimensions: Save the Children operates across all zones in Somalia and currently has three main area offices and an additional 11 field offices. Programmatically, Somalia is a large Country Office with more than $110 million annual budget and over 650 staff.
ROLE PURPOSE: The Field Manager is responsible for directly overseeing the overall programme operations in Hirshabelle. Key deliverables include ensuring programmes are delivered on time and on budget, key performance indicators are met, and reporting on time to donors. The post holder is responsible and accountable for Save the Children's quality programme implementation in both the development and humanitarian sectors, in accordance with SCI's quality framework, strategies and policies. Reports to: Area Director, Southern States & Benadir.
QUALIFICATIONS: University degree in a relevant academic discipline.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Minimum five years' practical experience managing a large programme in a complex emergency context, with a particular focus on health, livelihoods, child protection, education, nutrition or food security, in a large international non-governmental organisation or other international relief/development body; experience of managing the programme cycle, including assessments, project design, proposal and report writing, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload of complex, diverse tasks; strong capacity to coordinate, influence and support diversified stakeholders including government authorities, community leaders and donors; highly developed research, analytical, monitoring and evaluation, and report-writing abilities; sound financial management skills, particularly in budgeting and reporting; practical knowledge of current thematic issues and debates in developing countries and of major institutional donors such as USAID/BHA, GPE, UN, ECHO, EC, FCDO, SIDA, FFO, AfDB, WB, DANIDA, etc.
