Located in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, it will expand to over 400 staff by the end of 2027. AMLA directly supervises selected cross-border financial sector entities presenting high money-laundering risk, indirectly supervises other financial and non-financial entities, supports and coordinates Financial Intelligence Units (including joint analyses of cross-border cases, information exchange, advanced data analytics and the FIU.net system), and complements EU AML/CFT rules through regulatory and implementing technical standards and guidelines.
As a Data Science Expert, you will apply quantitative and statistical methods to support the development, testing and calibration of AMLA's risk assessment methodology and the data-driven selection of entities for direct supervision. Key responsibilities: contribute to developing, testing and calibrating quantitative models for assessing money-laundering and terrorist-financing risks; analyse supervisory datasets using statistical methods including distributions, thresholds, weighting approaches and sensitivity analysis; apply analytical techniques including machine learning where relevant; support the development of reproducible data-processing workflows and data-quality checks; contribute to model validation and assess robustness and explainability of analytical outputs; produce data-driven insights and visualisations to support entity selection; and support cooperation with national authorities and EU bodies on data collection and consistent application of the methodology.
