Based in Brussels and active in over a dozen countries, the European Institute of Peace (www.eip.org) is an independent organisation working collaboratively with the parties to conflict, those who represent people suffering from insecurity or at risk of violence, as well as European decision-makers and the conflict prevention, resolution and mediation community. The Institute provides practical experience, technical expertise, and policy advice on conflict resolution, using tools including analysis, mapping and design of peace processes and agreements, facilitating policy discussions, and proposing practical engagement through inclusive dialogue and mediation support.
EIP is looking for an HR Trainee to join its Human Resources team and support the Institute's operations on different HR projects, gaining hands-on experience with a variety of HR functions.
Responsibilities:
- Human resources administration: in collaboration with the HR Officer, support the onboarding of new hires, completion of all paperwork, benefit and insurance affiliations, and roll-out of the induction process; prepare employee and consultant contracts and maintain employee personnel files.
- HR strategy development and maintenance: assist in the drafting and publication of vacancy notices using a variety of sourcing channels; support the coordination of selection processes for team members (employees and consultants); help with CV screening, schedule interviews and keep calendars for hiring teams and candidates.
- HR projects and ad hoc tasks: assist in the design and implementation of HR projects (internships, digitalisation of onboarding, staff wellbeing); support the organisation with social events and teambuilding activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Human Resources or another relevant field.
- Some working experience in an equivalent position is a plus; recently graduated students are also welcome to apply.
- Motivation to pursue a career in Human Resources.
- Excellent command of English; knowledge of French or Dutch, or any other EU language, is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of HR functions (benefits, recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, training & development, legal, etc.).
- IT literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Legally entitled to work in Belgium (EU citizen or holder of a Belgian work permit).
Offer: a six-month full-time paid traineeship under the Belgian CIP framework in an international environment (18 nationalities at the Brussels office), with an allowance of 1,146 EUR/month, meal vouchers, reimbursement of public transport and telework costs, and a SIM card; 40h/week with 1 day of paid leave per month worked and the possibility to telework 3 days a week.
