Location: Bugesera, Rwanda
One Acre Fund (operating in Rwanda under the local brand Tubura) is seeking a National Performance Trial Specialist to lead National Performance Trials (NPTs), ensuring scientific integrity through robust trial design and statistical analysis while building capacity by teaching and mentoring Seed Technology & Business (STB) trainees.
Responsibilities:
- Lead NPT design and execution: design and implement scientifically robust experimental designs and field protocols; oversee trial implementation from planting through harvest with field teams; maintain compliance with SOPs, institutional guidelines, and international research best practices.
- Deliver advanced data analysis and research insights: develop standardized data collection tools and QA protocols; analyze complex trial data using statistical software; create data visualizations, dashboards, and technical outputs for evidence-based decisions.
- Build research capacity: deliver training on experimental design, data management, and statistical analysis within the STB Program; mentor trainees and guide research proposals, trial design, and data interpretation.
- Communicate findings and support innovation: prepare technical reports, presentations, and research briefs; translate scientific findings into practical recommendations for seed production and variety evaluation.
- Drive continuous improvement in research quality and support adoption of digital tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Agriculture, Plant Science, Statistics, Biometry, Agronomy, Seed Science, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in agricultural research, trial management, or applied statistical analysis.
- Advanced analytical skills with statistical software such as R, Genstat, SAS, or STATA.
- Strong understanding of experimental design and data quality assurance.
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English.
