Tearfund is seeking a strategic, highly organized, and proactive Regional Programme and Operations Lead within its Southern and East Africa (SEA) region to join our Senior Leadership Team. Location: To be based in a Tearfund country office or at the regional office within the SEA region (e.g., Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique). Reports to the SEA Regional Director. Open-ended / full-time with travel up to 25% across regional countries.
Purpose: The Regional Programme and Operations Lead contributes to the leadership of the SEA region by providing strategic direction, guidance, and operational oversight to country programmes. The role manages a multidisciplinary team of advisors and officers to support country programmes across design, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (DMEAL), operational compliance, business development, communications, and program quality, and deputizes for the Regional Director as needed.
Key responsibilities include strategic leadership and regional support; programme quality, DMEAL and learning; corporate policy, safeguarding and compliance (GPS, GDPR, Whistleblowing, Safeguarding); operations, logistics and security; and regional communications and business development.
What you will bring: Substantial experience in a senior managerial or regional/country leadership role within an INGO; extensive track record in operations, corporate assurance, program quality and DMEAL; proven line management, multi-country programming and partner compliance; strong budgeting, financial management and donor reporting. Degree (or equivalent) in Humanitarian Studies, International Development, Strategy, Management or a related field. Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, negotiation and representation skills; outstanding written and verbal English.
