The CLIMA Fund is a collaboration among Global Greengrants Fund, Grassroots International, Thousand Currents, and Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism. The CLIMA Fund supports grassroots climate justice movements in over 160 countries, partnering with movements advancing food sovereignty, water and forest protection, gender justice, and Indigenous rights.
The Director of Strategic Partnerships (DSP) will expand CLIMA Fund's philanthropic growth strategy—growing investments in grassroots climate justice movements while reshaping how climate philanthropy understands impact, scale, and systems change. The DSP will expand CLIMA's philanthropic influence, strengthen internal fundraising systems, and cultivate strategic donor relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Philanthropic Influencing & Strategic Partnerships (~45%): Co-develop and lead CLIMA's strategy for influencing major climate foundations and high-net-wealth philanthropists; build relationships with philanthropic influencers and donor networks; design donor education programming; represent CLIMA in philanthropic spaces and conferences; monitor emerging trends in climate philanthropy.
2. Fundraising & Donor Stewardship (~40%): Develop strategies to expand CLIMA's multi-year unrestricted funding by 50% by 2028; lead cultivation plans, reporting schedules, and stewardship systems; write proposals, reports, and fundraising materials; identify and cultivate new philanthropic relationships.
3. Organizational Systems & Coordination (~15%): Facilitate cross-fund Fundraising Team; maintain development systems and forecasting; strengthen coordination between CLIMA's fundraising, communications, and program functions.
Requirements: At least 10 years of experience in philanthropy, fundraising, or partnership development; demonstrated success cultivating institutional, family, and individual donors; strong understanding of climate justice and movement-led approaches; outstanding communication and relationship-building skills; experience developing fundraising strategies; ability to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives; deep commitment to justice, equity, and movement-led change.
Salary: $123,000. Remote position requiring ~3 hours overlap between 8AM–12PM PST, Monday–Friday. Approximately 5–8 trips per year required. Desired start date: January 4, 2027.
