The role will provide technical and economic clarity to IEEFA's analytical and policy assessment work in Asia with the task of evaluating how regional energy and financial markets impact country decarbonization and energy transition plans. The LNG/Gas Specialist will be responsible for shaping research and analysis regarding the financial condition of major LNG importers, power companies, and utilities in the region. Primary Roles and Responsibilities

* Critically analyze global fossil fuel markets with an emphasis on LNG and natural gas to ascertain the financial and economic impacts they have on companies and country markets that IEEFA covers in Asia
* Conduct analyses to provide clarity on the economic options and challenges facing corporate players in the LNG value chain as they assess how they will address the energy transition and tackle decarbonization in short, medium, and long terms
* Work closely with the LNG/Gas Research Lead, Asia, to develop impact strategies and monitor the performance outcomes of IEEFA's work relating to LNG and natural gas
* Establish and engage with relevant stakeholders in private and public sectors within countries, industry, and across the Asia-Pacific region and represent IEEFA at meetings and industry events
* Provide insights to the media and respond to requests for views to assist in building an informed public media narrative on financing the energy transition over the short, medium, and long term

Required Skills & Qualifications
* A degree in finance, economics, accounting, or political science and/or with professional certifications (e.g. CFA) or appropriate and relevant market-oriented experience in lieu of those degrees
* At least five or more years of relevant experience in the energy sector, with exposure to finance or market analysis
* Will have covered, analyzed, or worked in the energy sector covering the energy markets in the Asia-Pacific region, with strong emphasis on fossil fuel commodities, particularly natural gas and LNG
* Experience publishing analysis or thought leadership on energy markets
* Demonstrated high-level proficiency in communicating effectively in English and with sound judgment, both orally and in writing
* A commitment to IEEFA's mission to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable energy economy

Compensation
Full-time 12-month fixed-term employment contract with the option of extension by mutual agreement and a market competitive remuneration. Pay rates are also based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity.

Work Schedule
Remote, full-time. Due to collaboration with international teams, the schedule will include some early morning or later evening hours to accommodate time zones.

Travel
Some travel is required. All global team members attend IEEFA's annual conference and regional or international team retreat when scheduled.

EOE Statement
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at IEEFA. All members of under-represented groups are especially encouraged to apply.
