Humanitarian Response Officer (LATAM)
(3286)
An exciting opening has arisen in our LATAM team for an energetic, detail-oriented, and hands-on Humanitarian Response Officer.
We are looking for someone with extensive experience in the following areas:
* Field Accompaniment & Partner Support: Providing daily operational and technical guidance to national/local partners and faith-based organisations in emergency settings.
* Project Cycle Management & Monitoring: Conducting frequent field monitoring visits, verifying baseline data, tracking milestones, and editing partner narrative reports.
* DMEAL & Digital Data Systems: Transitioning partners to digital data collection (Kobo Toolbox, ODK) and uploading indicator progress onto tracking platforms like Tearfund Track.
* Quality & Humanitarian Standards: Contextualizing Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS, Sphere) and helping partners establish safe community feedback and complaints mechanisms.
* Partner Capacity Building: Facilitating practical workshops on project design, data collection, and basic reporting.
Tearfund needs to ensure that our partner-led emergency interventions funded by DEC and Tearfund Appeals are executed with high technical quality. We urgently need someone who can act as a frontline technical contact, helping partners build realistic proposals, meet reporting schedules, and capture field lessons learned.
The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking partner project performance, verifying project documentation, supporting learning reviews, and coordinating with response finance staff to align grant disbursements with field progress.
Do you have a passion for mentoring grassroots teams and working directly in the field? Are you a solution-focused team player who thrives in fast-paced environments? Do you enjoy working with digital data collection tools and maintaining meticulous project files? Then it could be the role for you!
You will also be able to build warm, supportive relationships with local church partners and grassroots organizations. You will be accustomed to working collaboratively with regional advisors, compliance officers, and emergency managers.
Applicants require excellent spoken and written Spanish and English. All applicants must be committed to Tearfund's Christian beliefs and living out our values as they represent the organization.
We would expect applicants to hold a degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Action, or a related field, along with proven NGO field coordination experience. All posts involve potential contact with children and vulnerable adults; therefore, the recruitment process will include safeguarding checks, a clean Police/DBS check, and international watchlist screening.
Please note: This is a 1 year fixed term contract. This role will be based in-region: Colombia. This role requires frequent travel to remote field sites within the region.
We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities and those from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, as these groups are currently underrepresented at Tearfund.
All applicants must be committed to Tearfund's Christian beliefs.
The recruitment process will include specific checks related to safeguarding. In addition, personal identification information will be submitted against a Watchlist database to check against criminal convictions as a counter-terror measure.
Due to the urgent nature of this recruitment, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a high volume of candidates is received, so early application is strongly encouraged.
