Salary: £30,839 per annum
Contract Duration: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract with possibility of extension

The Department for Education has announced that the British Council will become the UK's National Agency for Erasmus+ from 2027.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape and deliver one of the UK's largest international education and mobility programmes, supporting learners, educators and organisations across schools, higher education, vocational education and training (VET), adult education, youth and sport.

Role purpose
As Programme Support Manager, you'll lead the development and continuous improvement of operational processes that enable the successful delivery of the Erasmus+ programme.
Working across Programme Delivery, Quality Assurance, Digital, Finance and Compliance teams, you'll ensure colleagues have the operational frameworks, guidance, tools and support needed to deliver a consistent, efficient and high-quality customer experience throughout the programme lifecycle.
You'll play a key role in embedding continuous improvement, ensuring processes remain compliant, scalable and aligned to business priorities.

Main accountabilities

Operational leadership
• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of programme support processes and operational frameworks.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, guidance and delivery documentation.
• Ensure consistent operational delivery across multiple programme teams.

Continuous improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
• Analyse operational performance and recommend process improvements.
• Support the implementation of new systems, tools and ways of working.

Stakeholder management
• Build collaborative relationships across Programme Delivery, Digital, Finance, Quality Assurance and Compliance teams.
• Provide operational advice and support to internal stakeholders.
• Act as an escalation point for complex operational queries.

Leadership
• Line manage Programme Support Officers.
• Coach and support colleagues in adopting new operational processes.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Essential experience
• Experience leading operational or programme support activities within a complex organisation.
• Experience designing or improving operational processes and documentation.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple business functions.
• Experience managing competing priorities and delivering against deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable
• Experience supporting grant-funded or public sector programmes.
• Knowledge of Erasmus+ or similar international education programmes.
• Experience of digital transformation or operational improvement initiatives.
