ABOUT THE ROLE
Energy Cities is looking for a Project Manager to support the coordination of the European City Facility (EUCF) (50%FTE), support the capacity building activities of the E2CUTIES project (20% FTE) and contribute to fundraising activities (proposal writing for EU projects -30% FTE).,
 
EUCF is an initiative helping cities and municipalities across Europe turn their climate and energy plans into real investment projects. The European City Facility is one of our flagship initiatives, working with more than 400 municipalities across more than 30 countries. At EUCF you will have a support role in the project coordination.
 
E2-CUTIES is an Interreg North-West Europe funded project supporting Local Energy Communities. In this project you will work supporting thedesign and facilitation of peer-to-peer exchanges and designing a new e-learning modules for local authorities and energy cooperatives.
 
In the fundraising topic, you will be taking part in the development of new European funded projects proposals under Horizon Europe, LIFE CET and other programmes. You will need to collaborate with external partners to shape future projects activities and budgets, ensuring alignment with Energy Cities mission and core activities.
 
You will work closely with the EUCF and E2-CUTIES project teams at Energy Cities and diverse European consortiums public, private and civic partners. You should support to keep the projects running smoothly, support partners, and ensure that key activities are delivered effectively. You will also work frequently with the Fundraising team.
 
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys combining project management, capacity building activities, and business developmment.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Support the day-to-day coordination of the EUCF project, including:
  • Organise meetings (online and in-person), prepare agendas, take minutes, and ensure follow-up
  • Track progress across work packages and help partners stay on time
  • Maintain simple and efficient monitoring tools (deliverables tracking, action lists, etc.)
  • Contribute to reporting and internal project management
  • Work closely with partners and cities
  • Follow key activities across the project, especially national-level actions and events
  • Support the organisation of events and exchanges with cities and stakeholders
  • Help capture and structure lessons learned from capacity-building activities
  • Help shape EUCF activities
  • Support the organisation of key project moments such as meetings, high-level events, national events, calls for applications
  • Support the communication team to ensure strong outreach
  • Support the preparation of project deliverables and other core documents
  • Help ensure consistency and quality across deliverables
  • Support the E2CUTIES capacity building activities, including:
  • Design and launch new e-learning modules on the topic of Energy Communities
Take part in the business development activities:
  • Draft project ideas that are aligned with Energy Cities core activities and funders requests
  • Negotiate Energy Cities contributions in the project
  • Liaise internally with relevant colleagues to create synergies in the future projects pipeline
  • Contribute to the design of the project budgets
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
 
Required qualifications and experience
  • You have at least 2 years of experience with EU-funded projects (LIFE, Horizon Europe or similar is a plus)
  • Experience in developing EU funded project proposals (Horizon Europe, LIFE...) or grant writing for private donors and foundations is a nice to have.
  • Experience in designing and facilitating peer-to-peer exchanges, and interest in energy communities
  • MSc in engineering, architecture, sustainability, environmental sciences, social sciences, economics, or any similar field.
  • Proficient English (C level) is required; knowledge of French and/or other EU languages is an asset
  • You are organised, reliable, and comfortable with performing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • You enjoy working in a team and coordinating with different partners
  • You are at ease with organising meetings, events, and collaborative processes
  • High level of autonomy and initiative combined with genuine team engagement
  • You are interested in the energy transition, cities, and local climate action
  • Proactive and initiative-driven approach to daily work
  • Knowledge of Moodle, Howspace or other e-learning platforms and tools is a nice to have
WHAT WE OFFER
Close-ended contract (CDD), full-time, under Belgian or French law.
