About the role:
MAG is currently recruiting for a Finance and Support Services Manager to lead the essential support functions that enable our teams to work safely and effectively with communities impacted by conflict. Based in Benin, with regular travel across the Gulf of Guinea region, you will bring leadership across Finance, HR, Procurement, IT and Administration, ensuring these functions work seamlessly to support operations in Benin, Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will work closely with the Regional Programme Manager, deputising when required and contributing to strategic decision making, annual business planning and the management of the programme’s overall risk profile. You will guide and coach national support service teams, ensure our policies and internal controls are robust and well implemented, and help maintain compliance with donor requirements, in country legislation and MAG’s global standards. You will use your financial expertise to shape budgets, monitor project performance, analyse trends and ensure strong cost management, while also overseeing financial accounting, audits, partner finance, cashflow and the effective use of MAG’s financial systems. Alongside this, you will ensure that procurement, logistics, asset management and IT systems are efficient, well governed and aligned with operational needs. The work is varied and challenging, involving close engagement with national authorities, partners, banks, regulators and internal stakeholders. You will us your professional skills to help ensure that teams on the ground are supported by systems that are safe, accountable and able to meet the needs of communities living with the ongoing impact of weapons and explosive hazards.
About the position:
MAG is currently recruiting a Finance and Support Services Manager who will be responsible for leading critical support functions to enable our teams to work effectively and safely with conflict-affected communities. Based in Benin, and required to travel regularly to the Gulf of Guinea region, you will provide leadership to the Finance, Human Resources, Purchasing, IT and Administration departments, ensuring that they work seamlessly to support our operations in Benin, Côte d'Ivoire and Nigeria.
As a member of the management team, you will work closely with the Regional Programme Manager, acting as an interim if necessary, and you will contribute to strategic decision-making, annual planning and the management of the overall risk profile of the programme. You will mentor and train national support teams, ensure the robustness and proper application of our internal policies and controls, and contribute to compliance with donor requirements, national legislation and international MAM standards. You will use your financial expertise to develop budgets, track project performance, analyze trends, and ensure rigorous cost management, while overseeing accounting, audits, partner finance, treasury, and the optimal use of MAG's financial systems. At the same time, you will ensure that procurement, logistics, asset management and IT systems are efficient, well-managed and adapted to operational needs. This varied and challenging work involves close collaboration with national authorities, partners, banks, regulators and internal stakeholders. You will use your professional skills to ensure that teams on the ground have systems that are secure, transparent, and able to meet the needs of communities that are experiencing the lingering consequences of weapons and explosive device hazards.
About the Gulf of Guinea programme:
MAG programming in Gulf of Guinea countries aims to reduce armed violence by addressing risks related to explosive ordnance (EO) and the illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons (SALW). Specifically, MAG projects aim to:
• enhance local engagement and safety awareness regarding SALW and EO through community-based activities and support locally-driven AVR initiatives;
• capacity-build state agencies to prevent and respond to the spread of illicit SALW proliferation, through the safe and effective storage and management of weapons and ammunition;
• increase state capacity to individually and collaboratively address risks related to SALW and ammunition.
About the Gulf of Guinea Program:
MAG's programs in the Gulf of Guinea countries aim to reduce armed violence by addressing the risks associated with explosive devices and the illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons. Specifically, MAG's projects aim to:
• Strengthen local engagement and awareness of security issues related to small arms and light weapons and explosive devices through community-based activities and support for local initiatives to reduce armed violence.
• strengthen the capacity of state agencies to prevent and counter the illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons, through the safe and effective storage and management of weapons and ammunition;
• To increase the capacity of the State to manage, individually and collectively, the risks associated with small arms and light weapons and ammunition.
Requirements
You will bring substantial senior level experience within the NGO sector, with a strong background in managing Finance and Support Services functions in complex settings. You will be confident overseeing project delivery, implementing systems across HR, procurement, logistics and administration, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements and national regulations. You will have the ability to lead national teams, build constructive relationships with authorities, donors and partners, and provide clear, solution focused guidance across a wide range of operational issues. Your analytical, planning and organisational skills will be well developed, enabling you to manage multiple priorities, produce high quality financial analysis, and support programme leadership in making informed decisions. To thrive in this role, you will be proactive, resilient and able to work both independently and as part of a senior leadership team. Areas of operation can be remote with limited amenities, so you will need to feel comfortable living and working in challenging environments and be motivated by contributing to a programme that supports communities affected by conflict. A recognised professional accounting qualification is highly desirable, though significant relevant experience may be considered instead. You will be sensitive to cultural differences, able to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts and have the willingness and ability to work both at strategic and operational levels, with a hands-on approach when required. Ideally, you will have experience managing support service functions within the West Africa region.

• Fluent in both French and English (reading, writing and spoken)
• Experience in supporting capacity development of national staff
• Experience working and supporting a multi-county portfolio

To succeed in this role, you are proactive, resilient, and able to work both independently and as part of a management team. The areas of intervention may be isolated and have limited infrastructure; You must therefore be comfortable in challenging environments and motivated to contribute to a program that supports communities affected by conflict. A recognized professional qualification in accounting is highly desirable, but significant relevant experience may be considered. You will be culturally sensitive, able to work in a variety of cultural contexts, and willing and able to intervene at both strategic and operational levels, with a pragmatic approach when necessary. Ideally, you will have experience in support function management in West Africa.

• Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.
• Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You'll have a minimum of six weeks out of the programme per year.
• Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year.
• Insurance: Internationally contracted, programme based staff are automatically covered by MAG's comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance.
