Professional Experience:

Leshoboro ‘Nena is an accomplished water resources and environment professional who has acquired a wide range of skills in the water sector in his professional life. I have held progressive responsible positions in the Water Sector at Lesotho Lowlands Water Development Project Phase II, Lesotho Lowlands Supply Scheme Unit, Lerotholi Polytechnic and the Department of Water Affairs. I have been involved in several Bilateral Projects representing the Kingdom of Lesotho in the Orange Senqu River Basin on different levels of responsibility, and in Projects at the Department of Water Affairs such Lesotho Hydrological Monitoring Stations Improvement Project under Joint Bilateral Commission for Cooperation between Lesotho and South Africa.

I have been seconded to represent Lesotho in several Regional (SADC) water resources development Projects as a Project Steering Committee member overseeing the implementation of the Projects. This has honed my capacity to manage donor funded projects and currently I am overseeing the implementation of the Lesotho Lowlands Water Development Project Phase II (LLWDP II) financed by the World Bank, European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Union to the tune of Euro 212 million as the Deputy Project Manager. I have developed skills in participatory approaches through the work I undertook in assessment and monitoring water resources of Lesotho which involves dealing with local communities and a wide range of stakeholders involved in water resources management and also in the implementation of the current Project.
Mr. ‘Nena has experience dealing with different levels of governance and has presented at various fora and to international and regional audiences. I have established linkages with key role-players in the country and regionally regarding water resources management. He furthermore has worked in monitoring and evaluation of Consultants in various projects he has been involved with including the current project he is implementing (Updating of the 2008 Lowlands Water Supply Scheme Designs). Mr. ‘Nena has also worked as a Lecturer and Head of Programme - Water and Environmental Engineering at Lerotholi Polytechnic.

Through my career I manged to achieve the following;
- I have been involved in water related projects for the past fifteen years
- have been seconded in SADC and ORASECOM Projects representing Lesotho
- I have been involved in several GWP activities both locally and regionally and I am one of the pioneers of the establishment of the Lesotho Youth Water Action Team
- I have a full understanding of the mandate of GWP both from my academic background and through involvement in GWP activities.
- I have worked with World Bank, EIB, AfDB, OPEC, BADEA and EU funded Projects, and have a clear understanding of requirements from Cooperating Partners
- I have successfully prepared bankable proposals, which manged to secure funding, an example being the ongoing Lesotho Lowlands Water Development Project Phase II financed by the World Bank, EIB, EU and the Government of Lesotho
- I am familiar with the World Bank, EIB, AFDB and Government of Lesotho Procurement Regulations
- I have served in the Ministry of Natural Resources Procurement Committee for the last 10 years
