Professional Experience:

Over the past two decades, my professional journey has been driven by a deep commitment to public service, humanitarian action, and giving voice to those too often unheard. I began my career in journalism with the BBC, where I learned the power of storytelling to inform, influence and connect. That experience continues to shape how I approach leadership and advocacy today.
Since joining UNHCR, I have had the privilege of serving in some of the most complex and challenging environments across Africa—from Chad and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the Republic of Congo and now Mali. In these contexts, I have led teams through insecurity, large-scale displacement, health crises and natural disasters, ensuring that protection and assistance reach those who need it most.
As a Head of Office, I have focused on building resilient operations that can deliver results even under severe constraints. Whether establishing a new UNHCR presence in volatile settings, coordinating emergency responses, or managing large influxes of refugees, I have worked to ensure that our interventions remain principled, effective and people-centred.
At the core of my leadership approach is a strong belief in teamwork, trust and duty of care. I strive to create an environment where colleagues feel supported, empowered and motivated to perform at their best. I am equally passionate about building meaningful partnerships—with governments, communities and humanitarian actors—to find sustainable solutions for displaced populations.
Today, as Head of Sub-Office in central Mali, I continue to focus on strengthening protection delivery, enhancing coordination and advocating for innovative, sustainable approaches that improve both operational effectiveness and the lives of the people we serve.

Education:

I studied journalism (1997–1999) at Gamal Abdel Nasser University in Conakry, earning a DEUG in Social and Human Sciences, and have since strengthened my expertise through continuous media and communication training.
Educated in Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea, with additional training in Ghana and the UK (BBC), I bring strong humanitarian and leadership competencies developed with UNHCR—spanning emergency coordination, protection, strategic planning, and team leadership in complex environments.

Affiliations and Achievements:

- In 2014 I volunteered with the UN to moderate an online forum about humanitarian in West and Central Africa in preparation of the world humanitarian summit scheduled to take place in 2016
- Presentations at Chatham House, Frontline Club, Parliament and Africa Foundation for Development (all London based)
- Consultant for Search for common ground in Guinea late 2007/early 2008 to produce the media sector mapping of the country.
- Between February 2008 and May 2010, I was involved – by translating despatches and suggesting angles for Guinean station partners - in the coverage of the trial of former Liberian president Charles Taylor by the Special Court for Sierra Leone at the Hague.
