Professional Experience:
Senior Climate Action, Carbon Markets and Sustainability Expert with extensive international experience in climate finance, carbon markets, low-carbon development, Article 6 implementation, renewable energy, and sustainability advisory across more than 30 countries of Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Recognized expert with extensive experience supporting corporates, governments, multilateral development banks, international organizations, UN institutions, and private sector stakeholders on climate finance and carbon market initiatives.
Demonstrated expertise in managing multi-country climate finance initiatives, carbon market development programs, mitigation activity portfolios, stakeholder engagement, technical assistance delivery, and climate policy implementation. Strong experience in operationalization of Article 6 mechanisms, ITMO transactions, development of interoperable carbon market infrastructure, climate fund-related initiatives, carbon transaction structuring, and international carbon market frameworks. Earlier, worked extensively with Asian Development Bank (ADB), UNFCCC and Ernst & Young (EY), on supporting development and implementation of climate finance and carbon market initiatives.
SELECTED SPECIAL PROJECTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
• Successfully led and supported development & implementation of more than 200 multi country climate mitigation, renewable energy, and carbon finance projects & carbon market initiatives with governments, MDBs, UN organizations, corporates, and international institutions.
• Major contribution to development and operationalization of the Global Carbon Council (GCC), the first international carbon market and sustainable development program from the Global South, with global recognition including ICAO-CORSIA and ICROA endorsements.
• Leading Stakeholder engagement team and supported accelerated growth of GCC into one of the world’s largest voluntary carbon market programs with 1,600+ project submissions across 45+ countries within five years.
• Leading Climate Finance team and successfully developed Article 6 Carbon Market Infrastructure (CMI) with interoperable national registries for ITMO transactions. Leading country engagement initiatives, supporting countries for accelerated operationalization of Article 6.2 mechanisms.
• Direct experience of Carbon Fund operation. Extensively worked with and supported ADB’s two Carbon Finance Funds, Asia Pacific Carbon Fund (APCF) and Future Carbon Fund (FCF), for successful operation.
• Successfully led & completed prestigious assignment of sustainability strategy & carbon neutrality of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, including development of more than 14 emission reduction projects.
• Led the Climate Advisory team and successfully achieved carbon neutrality of Asia’s first museum carbon neutrality for Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), Doha and subsequently completed carbon footprint & carbon neutrality assignment for 3 Qatar Museums, including the National Museum of Qatar (NMQ).
• Extensive experience of developing, managing, and scaling portfolios of climate mitigation projects and carbon transactions, combining strong technical leadership in due diligence, project development, operational management and multi-stakeholder coordination.
