Professional Experience:

I am a seasoned education technical leader with over 18 years of progressive experience designing, managing, and delivering high-impact education programs in humanitarian, post-conflict, and development contexts across East Africa, the Horn of Africa, and Asia. My expertise spans formal, non-formal, and alternative education systems, teacher professional development, TVET, climate-smart education, ECD, psychosocial support, and integrated programming in emergencies.

Currently, as Education Technical Advisor at Finn Church Aid South Sudan (2022–present), I provide strategic and technical leadership for FCA’s national education portfolio, overseeing formal education, non-formal education, TVET, and teacher development programs, including the Multi-Year Education Consortium Resilience Programme. I lead program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, drive education strategy and business development, and foster strategic partnerships with government agencies, donors, and international partners. I also serve on the Country Senior Management Team and FCA global leadership forum, representing education at strategic decision-making and policy levels.

Previously, as Regional Education Expert (IGAD, 2021–2022), I led the Regional Teacher Training and Development Programme under the Djibouti Declaration, enhancing the professional capacity of secondary school teachers in Uganda, Sudan, and Ethiopia. I developed and implemented Continuous Professional Development strategies, contextualized teacher training in pedagogy, psychosocial support, life skills, and ICT, and facilitated regional curriculum collaboration. I represented the program in regional forums, strengthening inter-agency cooperation in teacher capacity development across emergency and development settings.

From 2018 to 2020, as Education Advisor at FCA South Sudan, I led education strategy development, program design, and national advocacy, integrating Education in Emergencies, DRR, resilience, and child safeguarding into multi-million-dollar programs. I successfully managed consortium projects funded by ECW, ECHO, FCDO, EU, SIDA, and MFA, secured over $30M in grants, and spearheaded teacher professional development initiatives.

In 2018, I served as Education in Emergency Specialist with Plan International, Bangladesh, providing technical leadership for the Rohingya refugee response in Cox’s Bazar. I coordinated partners, designed accelerated alternative education, early childhood, youth, and psychosocial programs, and built field team capacity in EiE programming.

Earlier roles include Education Advisor at World Vision South Sudan (2017–2018), Education Program Coordinator with USAID/Cardno Uganda (2013–2017), Education Project Coordinator with ChildFund Uganda (2009–2013), Education in Emergency Officer at Feed the Children Uganda (2007–2009), and Education Development Professional with Aga Khan Foundation East Africa (2006–2007). These positions involved leading national and district-level education programs, managing multi-million-dollar donor projects, capacity building for teachers and vocational trainers, curriculum development, and ensuring inclusive, evidence-based program delivery.

Across all roles, I have consistently demonstrated strategic leadership, technical expertise, and capacity to deliver high-quality education outcomes in challenging contexts, integrating safeguarding, inclusion, and psychosocial support, while effectively coordinating with governments, donors, UN agencies, INGOs, and communities to maximize impact for vulnerable children and youth.

Education:

I bring a solid academic foundation and extensive professional training in education, leadership, and humanitarian programming, underpinned by over 18 years of progressive experience across development, emergency, and protracted crisis contexts.

Academically, I am finalizing a Master of Education from Aga Khan University, Tanzania (2022–2025), where I deepened my expertise in educational leadership, pedagogy, and programme design for diverse learning contexts. This complements my Master of Arts in Development Studies from Nkumba University, Uganda (2011–2013), which strengthened my analytical, policy, and socio-economic development skills, critical in shaping education programmes for complex humanitarian environments.

Earlier qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning & Management from the Uganda Management Institute (2008–2009), providing advanced project design, implementation, and evaluation skills; and a Diploma in Leadership & Community Development from ESAMI, Arusha, Tanzania (2006–2007), earned with First Class honours, equipping me with strong leadership and strategic planning capabilities. I began my academic journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management from Makerere University, Kampala (2000–2003, Second Class Honours, Upper Division), which instilled sustainability and climate resilience principles that I now integrate into education initiatives.

In addition to formal academic achievements, I have undertaken extensive professional training that has enhanced my technical expertise in Education in Emergencies (EiE), teacher professional development, and vocational skills training. Key certifications include Safeguarding in Emergency Humanitarian Contexts (Finn Church Aid, 2023) and accreditation as a Teachers in Crisis Context (TiCC) Master Trainer (INEE, Helsinki, 2018), a recognition of my global-level expertise in teacher capacity building in humanitarian and post-conflict settings.

From 2021 to 2022, I served as a Master Trainer for Teachers in Displacement-Affected Communities within the IGAD region, delivering high-quality training in pedagogy, psychosocial support, and life skills. My technical competence in skills development is supported by my role as National Trainer for TVET Competency-Based Curriculum Development (Finn Church Aid, South Sudan, 2019). I also hold certifications in Conflict Sensitive Education and the INEE Minimum Standards (UNICEF Bangladesh, 2018).

This combination of academic knowledge and targeted professional training enables me to design and lead education strategies that integrate pedagogical best practices, safeguarding, teacher capacity building, vocational training, and climate-smart education into impactful programmes. It also positions me to contribute effectively to education policy development, system strengthening, and strategic partnerships with governments, donors, and humanitarian actors.

Overall, my education profile reflects a lifelong commitment to continuous learning and technical excellence. By blending advanced academic study with globally recognized professional certifications, I am well-positioned to lead large-scale, high-impact education interventions in both development and humanitarian settings—ensuring quality, resilience, and inclusive access to education for vulnerable, displaced, and crisis-affected populations.
