Professional Experience:

I am currently working for Capricorn Fisheries Monitoring cc. as an IOTC/ICCAT Marine Observer where I undertake contract work involving regulation, scientific research, monitoring and compliance of the international tuna fishery, particularly in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Through this work, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience working with an international community.

I have previously worked as a marine protected area manager at the De Hoop Nature Reserve; at UCT as a teaching assistant for BIO1004S and senior demonstrator (BIO1004F, BIO1004S, BIO2013F, BIO2106S); at Anchor Environmental and Coca-Cola. As a manager of the Marine Protected Area at De Hoop Nature Reserve (2009-2012), my duties entailed day to day management as well as research, environmental education and community conservation. As a senior demonstrator and teaching assistant for first and second year courses at UCT (2012-2021) I provided support to students and technical support to staff members. I assisted with macrofauna sorting at Anchor Environmental (2019) and I worked as a Quality Controller at Coca-Cola (2008). Through these roles I have learnt to work collaboratively while still having the ability to focus on individual tasks.
