Professional Experience:

By joining your team, you will have a colleague in me whose career, for more than 15 years, has been focused largely on auditing (internal and external), accounting, public sector finance management, project development, project control (internal audit), project/program management, etc. with private firm, NGOs, Government of Liberia and the United Nations (UNHCR – Liberia and UNHCR – Yemen). These experiences are very relevant to the design, implementation and support of financial management systems and administrative operations which, amongst others, is a key requirement for lead finance positions.

These experiences involved providing emergency relief (Ivorian refugees in Liberia), repatriation assistance (Liberian refugee returnees to Lofa County largely from Guinea and Sierra Leone), care and maintenance assistance and local integration of ex-refugees (local integration of Sierra Leonean refugees in western Liberia), care and maintenance assistance for IDPs (Al Mazraq Camps in Haradh, Yemen), working with ex-combatants (providing financial assistance to the 52 most feared rebel generals at the end of the Liberian Civil War). And I, now and most recently, have worked on development banks funded projects (like the World Bank funded STAR-P, RETRAP, and LIFT-P), and the audit of both public and private institutions.

I have worked in some of the most difficult (if not dangerous) duties stations like immediate post-war Voinjama in northwestern Liberia and in Sana’a and Haradh, Yemen.

Education:

I earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration (BBA) with a major in accounting and minor in management from the African Methodist Episcopal University in Monrovia, Liberia in 2002. I then qualified as a Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP – internal variant) with the Institute of Internal Auditors, USA, in 2012. CGAP is the specialty internal audit qualification for the public sector (local and national governments, international organizations, and NGOs).

In studying for my first professional accountancy with the ACCA, I earned the ACCA Fundamental Level Certificate and the ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting in 2015. The ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business is equivalent to a UK Bachelor’s degree per the UK Education Office evaluation.
In 2016, I achieved the ACCA Certificate in International Public Sector Accounting Standards (CertIPSAS). I completed the ACCA Professional Level Certificate (an equivalence of a UK Master’s degree) in 2018 before going on to achieve my full professional membership qualification as a Chartered Accountant or Chartered Certified Accountant in October that same year. I became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) of the Liberian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA) in November of 2018. Recently, November 2023, I was admitted to fully membership as a Chartered in Public Finance (CPFA) at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (The CIPFA, UK).
