Education:

My PhD thesis and subsequent work in international aid and organizational management have been guided by two key questions:

1. Why are policy outcomes often different from policy objectives? and,
2. How can the gap between policy outcomes and policy objectives be minimized?

My analysis focuses on the modes of governance and the formal and informal institutions through which governance is exercised, emphasizing the links between governance and policymaking at different jurisdictional and territorial scales. In organizational and strategic management, the findings from this type of research serve as the empirical evidence base to learn from successes and failures of past policies, inform future phases of policymaking, and identify entry points for policy advocacy. This approach is informed by the rich institutionalist literatures in development economics, human geography, anthropology, political science, and sociology and can be used to analyze or develop policy solutions in various policy domains.
